New biomarker in heart failure with reduced ejection fraction.

چکیده
eart failure is a serious condition because of the structural and/or functional cardiac disorders,1–3 in which not only heart failure with preserved ejection fraction (HFpEF) but also heart failure with reduced ejection fraction (HFrEF) are substantially involved.4,5 Because of the poor prognosis of patients, especially those with HFrEF,6 various therapeutic options have been developed during the past 3 decades, such as β-blockers, angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitors, angiotensin receptor blockers (ARB), implanted devices such as cardioverter-defibrillators (CRT-D) or implanted cardioverter-defibrillators (ICD), and left ventricular assist devices.7 To monitor the severity of heart failure, we usually examine blood levels of brain natriuretic peptide (BNP) or N-terminal pro-BNP (NT-proBNP); however, a more sensitive monitoring system is sometimes required in the clinical setting. Effect of Exercise Training on Heart Rate Variability in Patients with Heart Failure After Percutaneous Coronary Intervention
Background: This study aims to evaluate the effect of exercise training on heart rate variability (HRV) and to determine the correlation between parameters of HRV and the ejection fraction in patients with heart failure after percutaneous coronary intervention.Material and Methods: Fifty patients with left ventricular ejection fraction ≤ 40% undergone percutaneous coronary intervention were r...
متن کاملHeart Failure With Improved Ejection Fraction: Clinical Characteristics, Correlates of Recovery, and Survival: Results From the Valsartan Heart Failure Trial.
BACKGROUND Heart failure with recovered or improved ejection fraction (HFiEF) has been proposed as a new category of HF. Whether HFiEF is clinically distinct from HF with persistently reduced ejection fraction remains to be validated. METHODS AND RESULTS Of the 5010 subjects enrolled in the Valsartan Heart Failure Trial (Val-HeFT), 3519 had a baseline left ventricular EF of <35% and a follow-...
متن کاملClinical risk stratification optimizes value of biomarkers to predict new-onset heart failure in a community-based cohort.
BACKGROUND We aim to identify and quantify the value of biomarkers for incident new-onset heart failure (HF) in a community-based cohort and subgroups based on cardiovascular risk and evaluate the prognostic value of 13 biomarkers for HF with reduced and preserved ejection fraction. METHODS AND RESULTS Thirteen biomarkers reflecting diverse pathophysiologic domains were examined in 8569 HF-fr...
متن کاملNew Classification for Heart Failure with Mildly Reduced Ejection Fraction: Greater clarity or more confusion?
The latest European Society of Cardiology (ESC) guidelines for the diagnosis and management of heart failure include a new patient group for those with heart failure with mildly reduced ejection fraction (HFmrEF). By defining this group of patients as a separate entity, the ESC hope to encourage more research focusing on patients with HFmrEF. Previously, patients with this condition were caught...
متن کاملBenefits of Permanent His Bundle Pacing Combined With Atrioventricular Node Ablation in Atrial Fibrillation Patients With Heart Failure With Both Preserved and Reduced Left Ventricular Ejection Fraction
BACKGROUND Clinical benefits from His bundle pacing (HBP) in heart failure patients with preserved and reduced left ventricular ejection fraction are still inconclusive. This study evaluated clinical outcomes of permanent HBP in atrial fibrillation patients with narrow QRS who underwent atrioventricular node ablation for heart failure symptoms despite rate control by medication. METHODS AND R...
